Bilberry leaf has been used for diabetes, arthritis, blood circulation problems, and heart problems. In folk medicine, bilberry leaves are used for gastrointestinal ailments, diarrhea, appetite loss, colitis, inflammatiions. Bilberry leaves infusions are often applied topically as an astringent for skin problems and stomatitis. Preparations of leaves are recommended in cases of hypo- and avitaminosis, for acute and chronic gastro-intestinal disorders.
