Description of the disease

A femoral hernia is a condition in which internal organs (most commonly the intestine) protrude outside the abdominal cavity through a defect in the femoral canal.

Symptoms

Pain and discomfort in the thigh area, swelling in the groin area, a feeling of heaviness in the thigh area.

Causes

Hernia usually occurs due to weakness of the thigh muscles or increased internal pressure in the abdominal cavity.

Diagnosis

Usually, clinical examination, ultrasound, and X-ray are performed.

Treatment

In most cases, surgical intervention is required to repair the muscular wall and eliminate the hernia.
