Hypertrophic Rhinitis

Description of the Disease:

Hypertrophic rhinitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the nasal mucosa, characterized by enlargement of the nasal turbinates.

Classification:

  • Hypertrophic rhinitis can be allergic or non-allergic.

Symptoms:

  • Abundant clear mucous discharge in allergic form or purulent discharge and crusts in chronic inflammatory form.

Causes:

Diagnosis includes examination by an otolaryngologist, X-ray examination, and CT scan.

Treatment:

Treatment may include the use of medication, physiotherapy, and in some cases, surgical intervention.

Prevention of hypertrophic rhinitis includes avoiding contact with allergens, maintaining cleanliness and health of the nasal cavity.
