The drug contains paracetamol - non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (non-selective). It has an analgesic and antipyretic effect. Inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 mainly in the central nervous system, affecting the centers of pain and thermoregulation. In the inflamed tissues, cellular peroxidases neutralize the effect of paracetamol on COX, which explains the almost complete absence of its anti-inflammatory effect.
It does not adversely affect the water-salt metabolism (sodium and water retention) and the gastrointestinal tract mucosa due to the lack of influence on the synthesis of prostaglandins in peripheral tissues. The possibility of the formation of methemoglobin is unlikely.
Efferalgan instructions to take the drug inside (unless otherwise noted), drinking plenty of water.
The tablet should be dissolved in a glass of water (200 ml) and drunk. Assign adults inside 0.5-1 g (1-2 tab.) 2-3 times/day at intervals of not less than 4 hours.
When applying syrup for children Efferalgan, instructions for use by parents should be followed very carefully. When determining a single dose of the drug, it is necessary to take into account the bodyweight of the child: the average dose is determined at the rate of 10-15 mg per 1 kg of the child’s weight 3-4 times a day, with the highest daily dose not exceeding 60 mg per 1 kg of the baby’s weight.
For convenience and accuracy of dosing, you should use a measuring spoon. On the measuring spoon are applied divisions, indicating a single dose (15 mg/kg) for children weighing 4, 8, 12 or 16 kg, respectively. Unmarked divisions correspond to a bodyweight of 6, 10 or 14 kg.
The duration of treatment is 3 days when used as a febrifuge and up to 5 days as an analgesic. If you need a longer drug intake, you should consult a doctor.
