Description of the disease

Kidney stones disease (urolithiasis) is a condition characterized by the formation of stones in the kidneys, ureters, or bladder. The stones can vary in size and composition, and their formation is often related to metabolic disorders.

Classification

• Stones by composition: oxalate, urate, carbonate, and others.
• Stones by location: renal, ureteral, bladder.

Symptoms

Back pain, burning during urination, blood in the urine, frequent urination, nausea and vomiting.

Causes

Metabolic disorders, dehydration, urinary pH imbalance, heredity.

Diagnosis

• Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract.
• X-ray of the kidneys and urinary tract.
• Laboratory urine and blood tests.

Treatment

Treatment can be conservative or surgical, including medication, diet, ESWL, lithotripsy, surgical removal of stones.

Prevention

Regular water intake, diet compliance, physical activity, avoiding hypothermia.
